How it works
These 68 free pediatric NCLEX questions are our own, written to what the 2026 NCLEX-RN Test Plan says about children. They are unofficial, not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN).

Where children sit in the test plan
The 2026 NCLEX-RN Test Plan, read October 12, 2026, has no pediatric category: children come up inside its client needs categories. The questions here are sorted by topic instead.
Timing
Exam mode asks 30 of the 68 in 60 minutes: two minutes each, the pace of 150 items in five hours.
Where the answers come from
Each of these pediatric nursing practice questions names the page its answer was read in: a MedlinePlus article, a CDC vaccine statement or an open nursing textbook. No review book was used.
- Age decides many answers: the rule for an infant under 3 months is often not the rule for a toddler.
Questions and answers
Are these real NCLEX pediatric questions?
No. The test plan says disclosing exam items is a violation of law. All 68 are our own, and none repeats or rewords an item of the exam, of NCSBN's samples or of a review book.
How many pediatric questions are on the NCLEX?
NCSBN publishes no figure. Most of the plan's statements on children sit under health promotion and maintenance, 6 to 12% of items, beside pregnancy, adults and screening. The exam adapts, so the number differs for each candidate.
What pediatric topics does the NCLEX cover?
By the plan's activity statements: care and education from birth through 2 years and from 3 through 17, developmental stages and milestones, age-appropriate explanations of procedures, infant and child car seats, and pain medication suited to the child's age.
Is this for the NCLEX-RN or the NCLEX-PN?
It follows the registered nurse test plan. The practical nurse exam has its own plan and its own practice test on this site.
