The four subtests of fields 121 to 124
Each subtest has its own time on the test page, read October 16, 2026. Subtests 121 (Professional Knowledge and Skills) and 122 (Literacy) ask 50 questions each in 1 hour 15 minutes. Subtest 123 (Mathematics) asks 50 and subtest 124 (Science and Social Studies) 60, each in 1 hour 30 minutes. The four sets here hold 16, 16, 15 and 20 questions, with timed exams at the same pace.
How each subtest is weighted
Professional knowledge splits 60 to 40 between learner-centered supports and professional partnerships. Literacy: 30% in context, 30% skills, 40% processes. Mathematics: 20% teaching practices, 40% whole numbers, 40% fractions and decimals. Subtest 4 is a quarter three-dimensional science, a quarter science sense-making and half social studies.
For the ZP endorsement the test page asks for subtests 122, 123 and 124, plus either 121 or 117, the Lower Elementary professional knowledge subtest.
The social studies half of Subtest 4 points to Michigan's standards for grades 3 to 6, so know what each grade studies.
