What the real exams ask
302 KAR 26:020 has each examination cover the general standards for all categories plus those of the category sought: labels, safety, environment, pests, equipment, application methods and laws. This page practices the law part. The federal label and worker protection rules are on the pesticide applicator practice test.
Operator, applicator or non-commercial
The department's examination sheet has you choose a test: operator, applicator or non-commercial. Chapter 217B binds all three, so this is a practice test for KY pesticide applicator certification and a Kentucky pesticide license practice test.
Exam mode
Exam mode draws 20 questions, our number, and marks a pass at 70 percent. The department's testing pages give no question count or time limit.
- Three years recurs: application records, trainee training records and the window for twelve continuing education units.
- A trainee registration lasts 90 days and is never renewed.
Questions and answers
Is this the real Kentucky pesticide test?
No. It is unofficial practice written for this site from KRS chapter 217B and 302 KAR chapter 26. The real examinations are given by the Kentucky Department of Agriculture, and none of their questions are here.
What score do you need to pass the Kentucky pesticide test?
Seventy percent. 302 KAR 26:020 requires a minimum score of 70 percent on the certification examination for each category requested. The examination fee is charged every time the test is taken, pass or fail.
Is there a KY pesticide study guide?
Yes, but not here. The department's testing page says printed study manuals come from the University of Kentucky Pesticide Safety Education Program. Use this page to check what you remember of the state law after reading them.
How do I register for a Kentucky pesticide test?
The department requires pre-registration for an assigned date and time and permits no walk-ins. Its testing page says an online examination can be booked through the applicant's account portal. Bring government-issued photo identification or a declaration of identity and age.
How long does a Kentucky pesticide license last?
Until December 31 of the calendar year, under 302 KAR 26:020. A commercial or noncommercial renewal needs twelve continuing education units in the prior three years. A private applicator license renews automatically for the next two calendar years.
