How this list was compiled: Our own questions, written to the framework of the GACE Spanish (P–12) assessment (740) on the GACE website of the Evaluation Systems group of Pearson, https://www.gace.es.pearson.com/studyguide/framework/740 and https://www.gace.es.pearson.com/test/740, read 2026-10-12: testlet 335 Interpretive Listening—Spanish, about 20 selected-response questions in two competencies of a half each; testlet 336 Interpretive Reading—Spanish, about 30 in three competencies of a third each (literary, informational and argumentative texts); testlet 506 Language Acquisition and Instruction, 25 in two competencies; testlet 337 Presentational Speaking and Writing—Spanish, two constructed-response assignments. This bank holds 12, 18 and 15 questions on the three selected-response testlets, which is 60% of each. The listening questions are printed transcripts of short spoken texts of our own, since the page plays no recordings; the reading questions rest on short passages of our own and on two public-domain poems read at Wikisource (Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer, Rima XXI; José Martí, Versos sencillos XXXIX), and their answers are read in the text. Each language acquisition and instruction question names the page its fact was read on (Wikipedia, ACTFL or the framework itself), opened 2026-10-12. Licence: Questions, choices, passages and explanations are original work of this site, except the two quoted poems, which are in the public domain.

How it works

This free Spanish GACE practice test follows Spanish (P–12), assessment 740: 45 questions of our own on its three selected-response testlets. It is unofficial and not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission or Pearson.

Read the full guide

What the test covers

The framework lists four testlets: interpretive listening (about 20 questions), interpretive reading of literary, informational and argumentative texts (30), language acquisition and instruction (25), and presentational speaking and writing (two constructed-response assignments). This bank holds 12, 18 and 15 questions on the first three.

Listening without sound

The real listening testlet plays recordings. Here each spoken text (a voice message, a station announcement, a radio interview) is a transcript in Spanish with its question beneath. Reading it only once comes closest to listening.

Timing and the two assignments

Listening runs 30 minutes, reading 60 and each of the other two testlets 45. Exam mode gives 81 minutes for the 45 questions, the same pace. Four speaking and writing prompts of our own print from under the questions.

  • A microphone and headset are provided for the listening questions and the speaking assignment.
  • The written assignment lets you insert special characters with an on-screen character selector.
  • Listening, reading and the acquisition testlet are available by appointment, year round.

Questions and answers

How many questions are on the GACE Spanish test?

Spanish (P–12) has 75 selected-response questions and 2 constructed-response assignments in four testlets, and all four must be taken to complete the assessment. The GACE site says test forms can include non-scored questions being tried out.

What is a passing score on the GACE Spanish test?

By the GACE site, a testlet-based assessment is passed when every testlet has been taken, the floor on each is met and the results together give an assessment-level score of 220 or higher. Exam mode here counts right answers and gives no verdict.

Are the questions in Spanish or in English?

Listening and reading questions here are wholly in Spanish. Those on language acquisition and instruction are in English with Spanish examples; the GACE site lists that same testlet, 506, under French and German too.
