The outline, area by area
The outline, effective June 1, 2022, scores 75 questions: patient information and prescription evaluation 23, clinical practice 27, pharmacy operations 25. This bank holds 14, 16 and 15.
Law only, from the 2026 lawbook
Each answer names its section in the 2026 Lawbook for Pharmacy, revised July 2026, including section 4052 on what a pharmacist may furnish. The real exam also asks clinical questions; none is asked here.
A California Board of Pharmacy CPJE practice test, timed
Exam mode asks all 45 in 60 minutes, the real pace of 90 questions in two hours.
- Sort the deadlines: 72 hours for a suspected counterfeit, 14 days for a medication error report, 30 days for a controlled substance loss.
- One pharmacist may supervise three technicians on nondiscretionary tasks and two interns (sections 4115 and 4114).
Questions and answers
How many questions are on the CPJE?
90 multiple-choice questions in two hours. 75 are scored and 15 are pretest questions that are not identified, by the candidate bulletin. Once you answer a question you cannot return to it.
What is the passing score for the CPJE?
No fixed percent is published. The bulletin describes a criterion-referenced passing score that is equated for each version of the exam.
Is the CPJE the same as the MPJE?
No. The CPJE is written by the California State Board of Pharmacy. Its published answers say California does not require the MPJE: a license takes the NAPLEX and the CPJE.
Is this the official CPJE practice test?
No. The official material is the candidate bulletin from PSI, which prints the content outline and its own sample questions. This page is separate and copies none of them.
