Reading Comprehension 10
"The city plans to replace the Elm Street crossing guard with a flashing sign. That would be a mistake. A sign cannot notice a first grader who drops a lunchbox in the road, and it cannot hold up a hand to a driver who is looking at a phone. The city says the sign will save $18,000 a year. The publisher's product page says the Science subtest covers the life, physical and earth sciences and the nature of science, and that the Social Science subtest measures concepts important for citizenship. Each fact was read on the public page named on its question (National Human Genome Research Institute, NASA, NOAA, Environmental Protection Agency, National Park Service, National Archives, United States House of Representatives, Federal Reserve Board, Wiktionary), all 2026-10-13. How it works
Eighth graders sit the Stanford 10 (SAT 10) at Advanced 1 or, from the fifth month of the school year, Advanced 2. These 64 unofficial questions practice eight of the nine subtests. Not affiliated with Pearson, the publisher.

Where eighth grade sits on the chart
Pearson's chart gives Advanced 1 to grades 7.5 to 8.5 and Advanced 2 to grades 8.5 to 9.9. Their lines on the chart are identical, so one set serves both. The mathematics here is eighth grade work: linear equations, functions, exponents and the Pythagorean theorem. The language set adds verb voice and mood.
History, civics and science
The Social Science set leans on United States history and civics: the Declaration, the Constitution, the 13th Amendment, Marbury v. Madison. Each fact there and in the Science set was read on the public page linked under its question.
Questions and answers
What is on the Stanford 10 for 8th grade?
Both eighth grade levels have nine subtests: Reading Vocabulary, Reading Comprehension, Mathematics Problem Solving, Mathematics Procedures, Language, Spelling, Listening, Science and Social Science. This page has a set for each one but Listening.
Is there a history section on the SAT 10 for 8th grade?
History falls under the Social Science subtest: 40 questions with 25 minutes of planning time on Pearson's chart. The publisher says it measures concepts important for citizenship. The practice set here asks about United States history, civics, geography and economics.
How many questions are on the 8th grade Stanford 10?
The chart lists 372 multiple-choice questions for the complete battery at Advanced 1 and at Advanced 2, planned over 5 hours 10 minutes. The publisher calls the times guidelines, because the test allows flexible timing.
Are these Stanford 10 practice tests free for 8th grade?
Yes. All 64 questions and their explanations are free, with no sign-up. They are this site's own questions, written to the publisher's chart of levels and subtests, and none comes from a real Stanford 10.
