How it works

Unofficial practice for the Stanford 10 (SAT 10) in second grade: 60 questions written for this site, following the subtests Pearson lists for its Primary 2 level. Not affiliated with or endorsed by Pearson, the publisher.

Read the full guide

Which level a second grader takes

Pearson's chart gives Primary 2 to grades 2.5 through 3.5, so it is the level for the second half of second grade. Earlier in the year the level is Primary 1, which has Word Reading and Sentence Reading in place of Reading Vocabulary.

What is left out

Listening and Environment are part of the Primary 2 battery and are not practiced here. The real reading subtest asks about longer passages; these questions use a few sentences each.

How the answers are checked

Each mathematics answer is worked out again. Spellings and word meanings were read in Wiktionary, and each question names the Common Core standard it practices.

Questions and answers

What is on the Stanford 10 test for 2nd grade?

At Primary 2 the complete battery has nine multiple-choice subtests: Word Study Skills, Reading Vocabulary, Reading Comprehension, Mathematics Problem Solving, Mathematics Procedures, Language, Spelling, Listening and Environment. Together they hold 338 questions.

How long is the Stanford 10 for 2nd grade?

Pearson's chart puts the Primary 2 complete battery at 4 hours 55 minutes, in subtests of 20 to 50 minutes. The test is untimed, and Pearson calls those times guidelines to help schools plan.

Is the SAT 10 the same as the SAT?

No. SAT 10 is short for the Stanford Achievement Test Series, Tenth Edition, a multiple-choice achievement test for kindergarten through grade 12. It is not the SAT that students take for college admission.

Is this Stanford 10 practice test for 2nd grade free?

Yes, free and with no sign-up. Every question was written for this site and none comes from the real test. Pearson lists its own Primary 2 practice tests on its product page.
