How it works
This unofficial South Dakota MPJE practice test asks 120 questions of our own on South Dakota pharmacy law. It is not affiliated with the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP), which owns the exam, or the South Dakota Board of Pharmacy.

One book of laws and rules
Each question comes from the South Dakota Board of Pharmacy's own book, Laws and Rules Related to the Practice of Pharmacy in South Dakota, dated August 20, 2026 and read October 14, 2026: the practice act (SDCL 36-11), the Board's rules (ARSD 20:51), the drug control and monitoring chapters and the Department of Health's drug control rules (ARSD 44:58). The four areas and their weights are NABP's MPJE Competency Statements.
South Dakota law only
NABP's list of Uniform MPJE jurisdictions did not include South Dakota on October 14, 2026, and the Board's rules still require the MPJE, South Dakota edition. Federal questions are on the federal pharmacy law page. The state schedules' drug lists are left out. Practice for an exam, not medical advice.
- Up to three technicians per pharmacist on duty; interns do not count, and one pharmacist supervises at most two interns (ARSD 20:51:29:19, 20:51:02:11.01).
- Refills: noncontrolled drugs for twelve months, Schedule III and IV five times in six months, Schedule II never (ARSD 20:51:05:15.03).
- South Dakota's own schedules run I through IV, and dispensers report Schedule II through IV prescriptions at least every 24 hours (SDCL 34-20E-3).
Questions and answers
How many questions are on the South Dakota MPJE?
120, on a computer, with 2.5 hours to finish, by NABP's test day page; the exam adapts to your answers. A timed run on this page is the same length.
What is the passing score for the South Dakota MPJE?
The Board's rules, ARSD 20:51:01:04 and 20:51:04:03, set a total scaled score of at least 75 on the South Dakota edition. NABP reports only pass or fail and gives five attempts per jurisdiction.
What does the South Dakota MPJE cover?
Four areas in NABP's competency statements: licensure and personnel, pharmacist practice, dispensing requirements and pharmacy operations. State and federal questions are mixed with no label on either, and you answer each under the law of the state you are applying to.
Is there a free South Dakota MPJE study guide?
The law itself is free: the Board of Pharmacy posts one PDF of the state's pharmacy statutes and rules. These 120 questions are drawn from it, and each answer names the section to reread.
Are these the real South Dakota MPJE questions?
No. Every question was written for this site from the public statutes and rules. Nothing here comes from the MPJE, the Pre-MPJE or NABP's sample items, and neither NABP nor any South Dakota agency has reviewed it.
