How it works
This free, unofficial CSM practice test holds 68 of our own Scrum Master questions, sorted by the learning objectives Scrum Alliance publishes for its Certified ScrumMaster course. It is not affiliated with Scrum Alliance, and no question comes from the real test.

What the CSM test covers
Scrum Alliance's learning objectives for the course, last updated January 2022 and read on October 7, 2026, fall into Scrum theory, the Scrum Team, events, artifacts and commitments, Scrum Master core competencies, and service to the team, Product Owner and organization. They name the November 2020 Scrum Guide and the Agile Manifesto as their basis.
What this bank leaves out
Facilitation techniques, the differences between teaching, mentoring and coaching, technical debt and development practices are in the objectives but in neither public text. They are taught in class and are not asked here.
- The Daily Scrum is always 15 minutes. The other timeboxes are maximums for a one-month Sprint: eight, four and three hours.
- Transparency is a pillar, not a value. The five values are Commitment, Focus, Openness, Respect and Courage.
- The Manifesto does not reject plans or documents: the items on the right have value, the items on the left more.
Questions and answers
How many questions are on the CSM certification exam?
50 multiple-choice questions in one hour, with 37 right to pass, by Scrum Alliance's Certified ScrumMaster page. Exam mode here draws 50 of our own questions on the same clock and pass mark.
Can I take the CSM test without the course?
No. Scrum Alliance opens the test only after its 16-hour course, then allows two attempts within 90 days. This page is practice on the public texts behind the course, not a replacement for it.
Is CSM the same as PSM?
No. CSM is Scrum Alliance's certificate, earned through a course and its test. PSM I is Scrum.org's assessment of 80 questions with no required course. For that one, use the PSM 1 practice test.
