Nine areas, basic skills first
Basic Nursing Assisting Skills is 22% of the written assessment and Employability Skills 12%. Psychosocial and Cultural Needs is 11%; Communication Skills, Personal Care Skills, Ethics and Rights, and Safety and Mobility are 10% each; Rehabilitation and Restorative Care is 9% and Infection Control 6%.
The clock
The timed round gives 48 minutes for the 50 questions, the pace of the written assessment. NOCTI prints no passing score in this blueprint, so a round closes on a count of right answers by area.
Shown to an evaluator
The four performance jobs stay in the skills lab: putting on and taking off personal protective equipment, a set of vital signs, wheelchair assistance with a gait belt, and a modified bed bath.
- Federal nurse aide numbers: 75 training hours at the least, 12 in-service hours a year, retraining after 24 months away from paid nursing work.
- A cane goes on the stronger side. A bath runs head to toe, with the perineal area last.
