How this list was compiled: Our own questions, written to the competency list of the Job Ready Credential Blueprint for Agriculture Mechanics (code 2303, version 01, copyright 2026) that NOCTI publishes at https://www.nocti.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/JRAgMech2303.pdf , read 2026-10-15 and again 2026-10-16: a written assessment of 120 questions in 2 hours and 30 minutes over six areas (Health and Safety 13%; Welding, Fabrication, and Repair (CNC) 25%; Power Equipment and Machinery (Infield Equipment) 21%; Agricultural Structures 23%; Agribusiness 10%; Agriculture Engineering 8%), plus a performance assessment of six jobs. This bank holds 50 in those proportions. The Teacher assessment for Agriculture Mechanics (code 5302) prints the same six areas and weights. Every rule and definition was read on 2026-10-15 or 2026-10-16 on the public page named under its question: OSHA standards in 29 CFR 1910 and the agriculture standards in 29 CFR 1928 on osha.gov; the US Army manuals TM 9-237 Welding Theory and Application (1976), TM 9-8000 Principles of Automotive Vehicles (1985) and FM 5-426 Carpentry (1995), in the copies at archive.org; the USDA Farm Service Agency, the U.S. Geological Survey and NOAA; and Wikipedia. Every length, load and dollar figure is made up for the drill, and each computed answer is arithmetic that was worked twice. Licence: Questions, choices and explanations are original work of this site. The Army manuals are works of the United States government approved for public release, and no question or example is copied from them.

How it works

Fifty questions of our own for the NOCTI Agriculture Mechanics test, sorted by the six areas of the Job Ready blueprint, code 2303. This free practice test is unofficial and not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by NOCTI.

Six areas, in the blueprint's shares

Welding, Fabrication, and Repair (CNC) is 25% of the written assessment, Agricultural Structures 23% and Power Equipment and Machinery 21%. Health and Safety is 13%, Agribusiness 10% and Agriculture Engineering 8%. The 50 questions here split 12, 12, 10, 7, 5 and 4.

Timed at the real pace

A timed round of all 50 questions in 63 minutes keeps the pace of the written assessment. The blueprint gives no pass mark, so the result is a score only.

What stays in the shop

The six performance jobs are not practiced here: a square groove butt weld, oxyacetylene cutting, diagnosing a gas engine, wiring a switch to a light, marking a common rafter and setting up a farm level.

  • Safety answers cite the OSHA paragraph, such as 1928.57 for PTO shields and 1928.51 for ROPS and seatbelts.
  • Leveling: the benchmark elevation plus the first rod reading is the height of the instrument. Subtract the next rod reading.
  • On an electrode such as E6010, the first two digits are tensile strength in thousands of psi.

Questions and answers

How many questions are on the NOCTI Agriculture Mechanics test?

The Job Ready blueprint, code 2303, lists 120 written questions in 2 hours and 30 minutes, given in one, two or three sessions. The six performance jobs take another 3 hours.

Is this a NOCTI agricultural mechanics practice test?

Is this also practice for the NOCTI Teacher test in agriculture mechanics?

Yes. The Teacher assessment, code 5302, prints the same six areas with the same weights and 120 questions in 2 hours and 30 minutes.

Where is the NOCTI Agriculture Mechanics blueprint?

On nocti.org/credentials/blueprints, as a free PDF with the competencies, the share of each area and ten sample questions. None of the samples is used or reworded on this page.
