How this list was compiled: Our own questions, written to the test objectives of the Michigan Test for Teacher Certification (MTTC) field 023, French, as the MTTC site prints them (https://www.mttc.nesinc.com/Content/STUDYGUIDE/MI_SG_obj_023.htm and the test page https://www.mttc.nesinc.com/TestView.aspx?f=HTML_FRAG/MI023_TestPage.html, read 2026-10-13): 80 multiple-choice questions and 2 constructed-response assignments in 2 hours 30 minutes of testing time, passing score 220; Listening Comprehension, objectives 001-002, 15%; Reading Comprehension, 003-004, 15%; Language Structures and Comparisons, 005-006, 15%; Cultural Understanding, Comparisons, and Connections, 007-008, 15%; Language Acquisition, Instruction, and Assessment, 009-013, 20%; Writing, 014, 20%. Writing is a written assignment and is not in this bank. The bank holds 48 questions, 9, 9, 9, 9 and 12 for the five multiple-choice subareas. The 18 spoken texts and passages of the first two subareas are our own, with invented people and places, and each answer is read in the text; the real listening questions are heard through a headset, and here the script is printed. Every fact in the other three subareas was read on 2026-10-13 in the page named under its question: a named Wikipedia article, a Wiktionary appendix, or the summary of the World-Readiness Standards for Learning Languages on the ACTFL site. Licence: Questions, passages, choices and explanations are original work of this site.

The six subareas of field 023
The test objectives, read October 13, 2026, weight the test this way: listening 15%, reading 15%, structures and comparisons 15%, culture 15%, language acquisition, instruction and assessment 20%, writing 20%. The bank gives the first four 9 questions each and the fifth 12; the writing assignment cannot be marked here.
Scripts in place of sound
On the real test each message is heard through a headset. This page prints it as a script in French, so main idea, detail, tone and inference are practiced by reading.
Sources
Grammar and culture facts were read in named Wikipedia articles and a Wiktionary appendix of false friends, and the standards questions in the ACTFL summary of the World-Readiness Standards.
Objective 006 compares French with English in sounds, word meaning, word order and word forms. False friends such as « librairie » belong to it.
The culture objectives speak of French-speaking cultures and their regional differences, so this bank asks about Québec as well as France.
