How it works
An unofficial Florida dental laws and rules study guide: 87 of our own questions on Chapters 456 and 466, Florida Statutes, and Rule Chapter 64B5. The Florida Board of Dentistry and the American Board of Dental Examiners, which gives the real examination, are not affiliated.

What is left out
Law only, and each question cites its section or rule. The anesthesia rules (64B5-14), the disciplinary guidelines (64B5-13), fees and most of Chapter 456 are not asked. The text is read as the Board printed it on August 11, 2026. Practice for an exam, not medical advice.
- Dentists owe 30 hours of continuing education each biennium, two of them on prescribing controlled substances (s. 466.0135).
- Patient records are kept four years from the patient's last appointment (s. 466.018).
- Direct supervision ends with the dentist approving the work before the patient is dismissed (s. 466.003).
Questions and answers
Is there a Florida dental laws and rules study guide?
The examination's page names three sources: Chapters 456 and 466, Florida Statutes, and Rule Chapter 64B5. The Board of Dentistry prints all three in one Laws and Rules Booklet. This page drills them and names the section after each answer.
How many questions are on the Florida dental laws and rules exam?
Up to 67 multiple-choice items, of which up to five are field test items that do not count, according to the examination's page. Candidates have 90 minutes and need a final score of 75% or higher.
Where is the Florida laws and rules exam taken?
It is computer-based and given at a testing center, the examination's page says. Dental hygienists sit a separate version of up to 64 items, with the same 90 minutes and the same 75% score.
Who must take the Florida dental laws and rules exam?
Applicants for a Florida dental license: section 466.006(4)(a) requires a written examination on the laws and rules of the state regulating the practice of dentistry. Section 466.007 asks the same of dental hygiene applicants.
Is this the real examination?
No. The questions were written for this site from the public statutes and rules, never from the examination. Neither the Florida Board of Dentistry nor the American Board of Dental Examiners has reviewed this page.
