How it works
An unofficial Louisiana dental jurisprudence exam study guide: 58 of our own questions on the Dental Practice Act and LAC 46:XXXIII. The Louisiana State Board of Dentistry gives the real exam and has no tie to this page.

Where the questions come from
Both texts are read as the board posts them: the Act as amended through the 2024 session, the rules as updated January 2026. Most questions fall on continuing education, the duties of hygienists and assistants, general supervision and records. Fees and sedation permits are left out. Practice for an exam, not medical advice.
- Under general supervision a hygienist works at most five consecutive business days, and root planing stays under direct supervision (LAC 46:XXXIII.701).
- Dentists need 30 hours of continuing education each renewal period, hygienists 20 (LAC 46:XXXIII.1611 and 1613).
- Requested records must be made available within thirty days (LAC 46:XXXIII.136).
Questions and answers
Is there a Louisiana dental jurisprudence exam study guide?
The board names two texts to review, the Dental Practice Act (R.S. 37:751 and after) and its rules (Louisiana Administrative Code Title 46, Part XXXIII), and posts both as free files on its Laws and Rules page. Each answer here gives the section to read.
Who takes the Louisiana dental jurisprudence exam?
Each applicant for a dental or dental hygiene license, the board's page says. R.S. 37:761 lists an examination in jurisprudence among the steps to a dental license by examination.
How many questions are on the Louisiana dental jurisprudence exam?
The board does not publish a count, a time limit or a pass mark on its site, so this page does not guess them. Ask the board office when you apply.
Are these the real exam questions?
No. Every question here was written for this site from the public law. Nothing comes from the board's exam, and the Louisiana State Board of Dentistry has not seen or approved the page.
