What the Excel exam covers
Microsoft's skills outline for exam MO-210, read on October 9, 2026, weights five areas: worksheets and workbooks, 25 to 30 percent; data cells and ranges, 25 to 30; tables and table data, 10 to 15; formulas and functions, 15 to 20; charts, 15 to 20. The bank keeps close to those shares.
How the formula questions work
A formula question writes out a few cells as text and asks what the formula returns. Each result follows the function's Microsoft Support article, linked under the answer. The Excel Expert exam, MO-211, is left out.
- AVERAGE, MAX and MIN ignore text in a range, and a cell that holds zero still counts.
- Freeze Panes freezes the rows above the selected cell and the columns to its left.
- Cut and paste leaves a formula's references alone. Copy and paste shifts the relative ones.
Questions and answers
Which functions are on the Excel certification exam?
The MO-210 outline names twenty: AVERAGE, MAX, MIN, SUM, COUNT, COUNTA, COUNTBLANK, IF, SORT, UNIQUE, RIGHT, LEFT, MID, UPPER, LOWER, LEN, CONCAT, TEXTJOIN, RANDBETWEEN and SEQUENCE. Each one stands in a question of this bank.
How long is the Excel certification exam?
50 minutes for 33 to 37 questions, done as tasks in a live workbook, by Microsoft Learn and Certiport's exam lengths page, both read on October 9, 2026. Exam mode on this page sets 35 of our questions against the same 50 minutes.
What score do you need to pass the Excel certification exam?
Certiport's scoring policy equates a pass to 700 on its scale of 1 to 1000, and Microsoft says the mark needed depends on the exam. Neither is a percent, so this page shows a score and no verdict.
Is there still an Excel 2016 certification practice test?
The MOS 2016 exams ended on June 30, 2026, by Certiport's retirements page. The Excel exams it offers now are for Microsoft 365 Apps and Office 2019. This bank follows the Microsoft 365 Apps outline, which names SORT, UNIQUE, SEQUENCE and TEXTJOIN.
Is this Excel practice test free?
Yes, all 82 questions with their explanations, and there is no sign-up. Print the paper test to work the formulas by hand.
