How this list was compiled: Our own questions, written to the competency list of the Job Ready Credential Blueprint for Computer Technology (code 4122, version 01) that NOCTI publishes at https://www.nocti.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/JRCompTech4122.pdf , read 2026-10-09: a written assessment of 153 questions in 3 hours over six areas (Professional Standards, Ethics, and Business Practices 14%; General Computer Knowledge and Concepts 20%; PC Hardware Knowledge 21%; PC Software Knowledge 18%; Networking and Data Communications 16%; Security 11%), plus a performance assessment of four jobs. This bank holds 50 in those proportions. Every fact was read on the public page named under its question, each opened 2026-10-09: the U.S. Copyright Office, the Open Source Initiative, NIST, CISA, OSHA, the FCC, Microsoft Learn, MDN Web Docs, IETF RFCs and Wikipedia. Number conversions are arithmetic that is worked out again. Licence: Questions, choices and explanations are original work of this site.
How it works
This free NOCTI Computer Technology practice test has 50 questions of our own, sorted by the six areas of the Job Ready blueprint, code 4122. It is unofficial and not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by NOCTI.

Six areas, in the blueprint's shares
PC Hardware Knowledge is 21% of the written assessment; General Computer Knowledge and Concepts 20%; PC Software Knowledge 18%; Networking and Data Communications 16%; Professional Standards, Ethics, and Business Practices 14%; Security 11%. The 50 questions keep those shares.
Timed like the real one
Exam mode runs all 50 questions in 59 minutes, the pace of the real written assessment. The blueprint prints no pass mark, so the result is a score with no verdict.
Where the facts come from
The U.S. Copyright Office for licensing and backup copies, NIST and CISA for security, IETF RFCs for protocols, Microsoft Learn for Windows commands, MDN for web terms and Wikipedia for hardware. Each page read is linked under its question.
One hexadecimal digit is four bits, so split a binary number into groups of four from the right before converting.
Questions and answers
How many questions are on the NOCTI Computer Technology test?
The blueprint for code 4122 lists 153 written questions with an administration time of 3 hours, given in one, two or three sessions. A separate performance assessment has four jobs and also runs 3 hours.
Is NOCTI Computer Technology the same test as Computer Repair Technology?
No. NOCTI publishes separate blueprints for Computer Technology (4122), Computer Repair Technology (4515) and Computer Programming (4123). This page follows 4122 only, so ask your teacher which code your program gives.
What is the performance part of the NOCTI Computer Technology test?
Four hands-on jobs: file management in Windows (31%), a word-processing letter (15%), a spreadsheet (19%) and network connectivity (35%), where you record settings such as the IP address, DNS server and MAC address and trace a route.
Where is the NOCTI Computer Technology blueprint?
On NOCTI's blueprints page, nocti.org/credentials/blueprints, as a free PDF. It lists the competencies, the area weights and ten sample questions. None of those sample questions is copied or reworded on this page.
