How this list was compiled: Our own questions, written to the competency list of the Job Ready Credential Blueprint for Electronics Technology (code 4135, version 01, original release 2018, content review 2026) that NOCTI publishes at https://www.nocti.org/wp-content/uploads/Blueprints/JRElectronicsTech4135.pdf , read 2026-10-13: a written assessment of 182 questions in 3 hours over eight areas (Safety Practices 9%; Fundamental Electrical Principles and Theory 16%; Digital Electronic Circuits 14%; Electronic Device Analysis and Applications 20%; Electronic Testing Equipment 9%; Direct Current Circuit Analysis 11%; Alternating Current Analysis 15%; Prototyping and Fabrication Techniques 6%), plus a performance assessment of four jobs. This bank holds 52 in those proportions. Every rule and definition was read on 2026-10-13 on the public page named under its question: the US Navy Electricity and Electronics Training Series (NEETS modules 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 9, 13 and 16, the copies at archive.org), OSHA standards in 29 CFR 1910 on osha.gov and Wikipedia. Every voltage, resistance and count is made up for the drill, and each computed answer is arithmetic that was worked twice. Licence: Questions, choices and explanations are original work of this site. The NEETS modules are works of the United States Navy approved for public release, and no question or example is copied from them.

How it works

Unofficial and free: a NOCTI Electronics Technology practice test of 52 questions of our own, laid out by the eight areas of Job Ready blueprint 4135. This page is not affiliated with NOCTI, which does not endorse or sponsor it.

Eight areas, largest first

Electronic Device Analysis and Applications is 20% of the written assessment. Fundamental Electrical Principles and Theory is 16%, AC Analysis 15%, Digital Electronic Circuits 14%, DC Circuit Analysis 11%, Safety Practices and Electronic Testing Equipment 9% each and Prototyping and Fabrication Techniques 6%.

Time on the real test

The real test leaves just under a minute for each question, which makes 51 minutes a fair limit for these 52. No passing score is printed in the blueprint.

Left to the bench

Four performance jobs are scored apart from the written part: soldering and de-soldering, a power supply, an operational amplifier and a combinational logic circuit.

  • ICE: in a capacitor, current leads voltage by 90 degrees.
  • The effective (rms) value of a sine wave is 0.707 times its peak. Peak-to-peak is twice the peak.
  • Resistor bands read as two digits, then the number of zeroes, then the tolerance.

Questions and answers

How many questions are on the NOCTI Electronics Technology test?

The written part has 182 questions and a 3-hour limit, according to blueprint 4135, and may be given in up to three sessions. Four bench jobs follow, with 2 hours and 55 minutes for all of them.

Is NOCTI Electronics Technology the same test as NOCTI Electronics?

No. NOCTI also publishes a Job Ready blueprint named Electronics, code 3034, with 180 written questions, its own list of areas and five performance jobs. This page follows Electronics Technology, code 4135.

Is there a NOCTI Teacher test for Electronics Technology?

Yes, code 5947. Its eight areas match these, each weight sits within one point of the Job Ready figure, and it has 175 written questions, a 3-hour limit and the four bench jobs named above.

Where is the NOCTI Electronics Technology blueprint?

Search for Electronics Technology on nocti.org/credentials/blueprints and open the PDF with code 4135. It lists every competency, the area weights, ten sample questions and one sample job, the power supply. None of the samples is reused on this page.
