The notice behind the topics

The amended notice of February 8, 2023 lists problem sensitivity, written comprehension, written expression, information ordering, spatial orientation, deductive reasoning and inductive reasoning, and asks for at least 70% to pass. The job it describes is enforcing court orders and seizing property under writs, so most scenes here are orders, sales and service of papers. A county's sheriff written exam practice test may need other subjects.

Rounds and paper

The Start from menu under the question sets one ability, 12 questions each. Exam mode, under the question, draws 30, our number, and marks them against the notice's 70%. For a free deputy sheriff practice exam PDF, Print on the score card makes a paper test, and a tick adds an answer key.

  • On spatial questions, settle which way you face before you read the choices.
  • The Missed pile, under More options, keeps what you got wrong. Clear my progress, under More options, erases what this browser keeps.

Questions and answers

Is this a real sheriff exam practice test?

It is practice, and unofficial. Every question is our own. Real exams are closed, and nothing here comes from one, from a test publisher or from a prep book. This site is not affiliated with any sheriff's office.

Does it cover jail, custody or patrol rules?

No. The notice it follows lists seven reading and reasoning abilities and no arithmetic or law. A paper called made-up or a rule marked "for this drill" is invented so there is something to read and apply.

What score passes a deputy sheriff written exam?

The New York City notice for Exam No. 3069 asks for a score of at least 70% and says the score sets your place on the eligible list. Other sheriff's offices print their own marks in their own bulletins.

How is this different from the police written exam practice test?

That page follows a police officer notice with nine abilities and patrol scenes. This one follows a deputy city sheriff notice with seven, in court order, property sale and courthouse scenes. No question appears on both.
