What the Oklahoma test covers

The state's study guide sets six duties: administering medication (27 questions), observing and reporting (9), legal and ethical guidelines (12), safety (5), measurement (5) and body systems (7). This bank has the same count in each.

Where the answers come from

Oklahoma's rules, OAC 310:677 and 310:675-9-9.1, answer 27 questions. Federal nursing home and workplace rules answer 7, the study guide's abbreviation list 2, and MedlinePlus and the FDA the 29 on drugs and the body.

Where Oklahoma differs

A CMA does not take physician orders, and gives a PRN dose without a documented assessment only when a licensed nurse authorizes it. Insulin, tube medications and inhalers each need advanced training.

  • Oklahoma counts seven rights: patient, drug, date, time, dosage, route and form.
  • No calculator is allowed on the real test, so work the conversions by hand.
