How this list was compiled: Our own questions, written to the competency list of the Job Ready Credential Blueprint for Collision Repair (code 4206, version 01, copyright 2019) that NOCTI publishes at https://www.nocti.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/JRCollRpr4206.pdf , read 2026-10-13: a written assessment of 146 questions in 3 hours over six areas (Safety 14%; Business Fundamentals 10%; Metal Inert Gas (MIG)/Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), and Squeeze-Type Resistance Spot Welding (STRSW) 12%; Structural Repairs 15%; Non-Structural Repairs 29%; Mechanical and Electrical Systems 20%), plus a performance assessment of three jobs. This bank holds 50 in those proportions. Every rule and definition was read on 2026-10-13 on the public page named under its question: OSHA general industry standards in 29 CFR 1910 on osha.gov, 40 CFR parts 63 and 82 on ecfr.gov, the Army correspondence subcourse OD1653, Metal Body Repair, US Army TM 9-8000 (1985) and TM 9-237 (1976) (the copies at archive.org), and Wikipedia. Every price, rate and hour in a sum is made up for the drill, and each computed answer is arithmetic that was worked twice. Licence: Questions, choices and explanations are original work of this site. OD1653, TM 9-8000 and TM 9-237 are works of the United States Army approved for public release, and no question or example is copied from them.

Six areas, in the blueprint's shares

Non-Structural Repairs is 29% of the written assessment and Mechanical and Electrical Systems 20%. Structural Repairs is 15%, Safety 14%, MIG/GMAW and squeeze-type resistance spot welding 12% and Business Fundamentals 10%.

Collision Repair, with or without refinishing

This page follows Collision Repair, code 4206; at its pace these 50 questions take 62 minutes. NOCTI also prints Collision Repair and Refinishing Technology, code 3283, which adds a seventh written area, Painting and Refinishing.

Three jobs done at the bench, not here

Welding (a vertical lap weld, a butt weld with backing and a plug weld), a sheet metal repair with filler and a tram gauge measurement make up the performance assessment. The blueprint allows 2 hours and 15 minutes for the three.

  • Caster is the tilt seen from the side. Camber is the lean seen from the front. Toe-in is wheels closer together at the front.
  • Laminated glass is the windshield. Tempered glass, in many side windows, breaks into small granular chunks.
