How this list was compiled: Our own questions, written to the competency list of the Job Ready Credential Blueprint for Television Production (code 3527, version 01, copyright 2018) that NOCTI publishes at https://www.nocti.org/wp-content/uploads/Blueprints/JRTVProd3527.pdf , read 2026-10-14 and again 2026-10-15: a written assessment of 174 questions in 3 hours over five areas (Safety 7%; Pre-Production 20%; Production 49%; Post-Production 16%; Ethics, Communications, and General Field Knowledge 8%), plus a performance assessment of three jobs. This bank holds 50 in those proportions. NOCTI also posts a pilot blueprint, code 3627, marked subject to change (125 questions), and a Teacher blueprint, code 5186 (181 questions over the same five areas); this bank follows 3527. Every rule and definition was read on 2026-10-14 and again on 2026-10-15 on the public page named under its question: OSHA general industry standards in 29 CFR 1910 on osha.gov, the U.S. Copyright Office at copyright.gov, and Wikipedia. Five areas, and Production is half

Production is 49% of the written assessment: lighting, camera moves, exposure, framing, microphones and the control room. Pre-Production is 20%, Post-Production 16%, Ethics, Communications, and General Field Knowledge 8% and Safety 7%. The 50 questions here split 24, 10, 8, 4 and 4.

The clock

At the pace of the written assessment, 50 questions take 52 minutes. The blueprint prints no pass mark, so a round gives a score only.

Left to the studio

The three performance jobs need a camera and an editing system: a two-column script for a 30- to 60-second public service announcement, the shoot, and the edit exported to the desktop.

  • Key, fill and back: the fill lights what the key leaves in shadow, and the backlight shines from behind.
  • A lower f-number means a larger aperture and more light.
  • An L cut carries the old scene's audio over the new picture. A J cut brings the new scene's audio in early.

Questions and answers
