How it works
This free ASE B4 practice test has 50 structural analysis and damage repair questions of our own, spread over its four content areas like the real test. It is unofficial: the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) did not write, review or endorse it.

How the 50 questions are split
ASE's study guide gives the 50 scored questions as frame inspection and repair 16, unibody and unitized structure inspection, measurement and repair 18, stationary glass 4, and welding, cutting and joining 12. The bank matches those counts.
Where the answers come from
Damage types and gauges come from ASE's own task list and a public instructional unit, measuring principles from a US Army body repair course, welding faults from a Navy manual, and glass and roof figures from federal standards.
What this bank leaves out
Electronic three-dimensional measuring systems, sectioning locations and a vehicle maker's joining procedure change by vehicle and are not in a public source, so no question guesses at them.
- Learn each damage type with its reference: length from body zero, height from the datum, width from the centerline.
- Frame and unibody are 34 of the 50 questions, so measuring matters more than welding.
Questions and answers
How many questions are on the ASE B4 test?
60, by ASE's 2026 Collision study guide: 50 scored and 10 research questions that do not count, in 75 minutes. Nothing marks the research questions. Recertification is a shorter test of 25 questions in 30 minutes.
What is on the ASE B4 structural test?
Measuring and repairing frames and unibody structures: mash, sag, sidesway, twist and diamond damage, anchoring and pulling, replacing rails, pillars and rocker panels, bonded stationary glass, and welding, riveting and cutting structural parts.
Does B4 count toward Master Collision Repair and Refinish Technician?
Yes. ASE's Collision study guide stars B2, B3, B4 and B5 as the tests needed to become an ASE Master Collision Repair & Refinish Technician. B6, damage analysis and estimating, has no star.
