How this list was compiled: Our own questions, written to the 2023 AGNP examination blueprint that the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board (AANPCB, doing business as NPCB) publishes (https://www.aanpcert.org/certs/agnp, read 2026-10-12). Domain I: Assess 28%, Diagnose 25%, Plan 25%, Evaluate 22%. Domain II, patient age: Adolescent 2%, Young Adult 13%, Adult 28%, Older Adult 40%, Elderly 17%; the board defines no age limits, so the age label on each question is ours (adolescent under 18, young adult 18 to 25, adult 26 to 64, older adult 65 to 79, elderly 80 and over). The bank holds 13, 11, 11 and 10 questions by domain, 45 in all, and 1, 5, 14, 17 and 8 by age. Every fact was read on 2026-10-12 in the MedlinePlus Medical Encyclopedia (National Library of Medicine) article the question names. What the exam covers

The board's AGNP blueprint, read at aanpcert.org on October 12, 2026, splits the scored questions into four domains: assess 28%, diagnose 25%, plan 25% and evaluate 22%. It also sets patient ages, with older adults at 40%. The 45 questions follow both splits.

A study guide by domain

Used as an adult gerontology nurse practitioner study guide, each explanation names the MedlinePlus article and section behind the answer: screening ages, first medicines, what to recheck and when.

Timing

A timed run here asks 40 questions in 48 minutes, the pace of the real exam's 150 in 3 hours.

  • Screening ages follow the MedlinePlus article on the date checked. Open the source link if your program teaches a newer recommendation.

Questions and answers

Is this an AANP AGNP practice test or an ANCC one?

It follows the AANPCB blueprint. The American Nurses Credentialing Center gives a separate adult-gerontology primary care exam, AGPCNP-BC, with 175 questions in 3.5 hours by its page on nursingworld.org. This bank was not written to that outline.

Is there a free online AGNP practice test from the board?

The board's candidate handbook says it offers optional practice examinations on the same blueprint, and that they are not meant to predict performance. This page is free and separate: none of its questions comes from the board.

How many questions are on the AGNP exam?

150 multiple-choice questions in 3 hours, by the board's candidate handbook dated June 4, 2026. 135 are scored; 15 are pretest questions and do not count.

What is a passing score on the AGNP exam?

The handbook says the passing score is set by standard-setting methods and that scores are not given as a percent correct. Candidates get a preliminary pass or fail result right after the exam. A result here forecasts nothing.

Are there official adult gerontology nurse practitioner certification study guides?

The handbook says a current reference list used to develop the exam is on the board's website. This page uses none of those books: every answer here is checked against a MedlinePlus article, linked under the question.
