How this list was compiled: Our own questions, written to the Mathematics objectives 0013 to 0018 of the WEST-B test framework of the Washington Professional Educator Standards Board (https://www.west.nesinc.com/Content/STUDYGUIDE/WA_SG_obj_095.htm, read 2026-10-08): numbers and operations; measurement; geometry; probability and statistics; algebra; reasoning, problem solving and communication. The framework gives no share for each objective, so the bank holds ten of each. Subtest facts from the WEST-B test page (https://www.west.nesinc.com/TestView.aspx?f=HTML_FRAG/WA095_TestPage.html, read 2026-10-08): 60 multiple-choice questions, 2 hours. Conversions and formulas from the subtest's own Mathematical Symbols, Abbreviations, and Formulas sheet (https://www.west.nesinc.com/Content/Docs/WEST-B_SG_MathSymbolsAbbev.pdf); terms from the study guide's glossary (https://www.west.nesinc.com/Content/STUDYGUIDE/WA_SG_glossary_095.htm); line graphs from NCES Kids' Zone. 52 answers were worked out a second time by calculation from the numbers the question prints; the rest are reasoning or definition items. What the Mathematics subtest covers

The WEST-B framework, read October 8, 2026, lists six mathematics objectives: numbers and operations; measurement; geometry; probability and statistics; algebra; and reasoning, problem solving and communication. It gives no share for each, so this bank holds ten of each.

The formulas sheet

The real subtest shows a sheet of symbols, abbreviations and formulas on screen. It gives U.S. and metric conversions, π as about 3.14, area and perimeter of a square and rectangle, area of a triangle and circle, circumference, surface area and volume of a cube and rectangular solid, and the Pythagorean formula. Every area, volume and conversion question here can be done with that sheet.

  • Estimate before you read the choices. The study guide says an estimate can rule some of them out.
  • The study guide says a wrong answer is not penalized, so answer every question.

Questions and answers

Is this WEST-B math practice test free?

Yes, with no sign-up. Each question was written from the published framework. None is taken or reworded from the real subtest, the study guide's sample questions or the official practice test.

How many questions are on the WEST-B math test?

60 multiple-choice questions, each with four answer choices. Testing time is 2 hours, plus 15 minutes for a tutorial and nondisclosure agreement.

What is a passing score on WEST-B math?

The exam's page says a passing score is not required to meet the state requirement; a law signed in 2019 removed it. Preparation programs may set their own admission requirements, so ask yours.

Can you use a calculator on the WEST-B math test?

You may not bring one. The exam's rules say an on-screen calculator is provided for tests that allow it, and the WEST-B page lists only the formulas sheet as a reference, so practice working by hand.
