How this list was compiled: Our own questions, written to Part Three: Arts and Sciences (field 245) of the NYSTCE Multi-Subject: Teachers of Childhood (221/222/245) Assessment Design and Framework, October 2017 (https://www.nystce.nesinc.com/content/docs/NY_fld221_222_245_objs.pdf, read 2026-10-07): Science and Technology 16 selected-response items, Social Studies 16, and Fine Arts, Health and Fitness, Family and Consumer Science, and Career Development 8. The bank holds the same 16, 16 and 8; its last 8 cover the arts, consumer economics and career development and leave out the health and fitness topics. Facts were checked on 2026-10-07 on pages of NASA, the U.S. Geological Survey, NOAA, the U.S. Energy Information Administration, the National Human Genome Research Institute, the National Archives, the National Park Service, the Federal Trade Commission, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, CareerOneStop and the New York State K-8 Social Studies Framework (https://www.nysed.gov/sites/default/files/programs/curriculum-instruction/ss-framework-k-8a2.pdf); each question names its page. How it works
This free CST Multi-Subject practice test online follows New York's framework for Teachers of Childhood (Grade 1–Grade 6): literacy, mathematics, and arts and sciences. It is unofficial and not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the New York State Education Department or Pearson.

The three parts
Each real part has 40 selected-response questions. The framework plans up to 60 minutes for them in Part One, 75 in Part Two and 60 in Part Three, and Exam mode uses those numbers. Parts One and Two add one written response each, which this page does not mark.
Other grade bands
New York gives this test for four grade bands, and Part Three is shared by all four, so it is passed once. For Part Two alone, the CST Multi-Subject math practice test holds 80 more questions.
What is left out
Part Three's last competency also covers health and fitness. This page asks nothing on those topics.
Part Two of the real test gives a standard four-function calculator on screen, so keep a basic one beside you for the mathematics set.
Questions and answers
What score do you need to pass the Multi-Subject CST?
The test's own page gives 520 for each part, and all three parts must be passed. That is a scaled score and not a count of right answers, so this page shows your number right and no pass verdict.
How much does the written response count on the Multi-Subject CST?
The framework gives the constructed-response item 30% of the Part One score and 20% of the Part Two score. The 40 selected-response questions make up the rest, and each counts the same. Part Three has no written response.
Are these real NYSTCE Multi-Subject questions?
No. Every question is our own, written to the competencies in New York's Assessment Design and Framework of October 2017. Nothing is taken or reworded from the real test or from the sample questions in its preparation materials.
