What the real exams ask
The department says every exam is closed book, with true/false and multiple choice questions, and needs 70 percent to pass. Commercial applicators take the commercial core and at least one category exam; private applicators take the private core.
What this page covers
The core manuals pair the national core with Michigan addendums, the department says. These questions are the Michigan side: certification, drift, posting, service agreements, records and penalties. The national side is on the pesticide applicator practice test.
Exam mode
Exam mode draws 20 questions, our number, and applies the department's 70 percent pass mark. The department publishes no question count.
- Keep two words apart: to supervise needs no presence; direct supervision means physically present.
- Lawn markers are 4 by 5 inches, green on white; the customer removes them after 24 hours.
Questions and answers
Is this the real Michigan certified pesticide applicator test?
No. It is unofficial practice written for this site from Michigan law and rules. The real exams belong to the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, and none of their questions are here.
What score do you need to pass a Michigan pesticide exam?
At least 70 percent on each exam, according to the department's certification FAQ. Exams are closed book, with true/false and multiple-choice questions.
Is this a Michigan pesticide exam study guide?
No. The department sends candidates to the manuals of the Michigan State University Pesticide Safety Education Program. This page checks what you remember of the Michigan law and rules those manuals add to the national core.
Is this a practice pesticide license test for Michigan?
Yes, with one caution. Michigan certifies or registers the applicator and licenses the business: a firm that applies pesticides for hire needs a commercial applicator license for each place of business under MCL 324.8313.
How long does Michigan pesticide certification last?
Three years. The department says credentials run out on December 31 in year three and are renewed by retaking the exams or by earning recertification seminar credits.
