The three testlets
Testlet 401, Assessment and Planning, and testlet 402, Curriculum and Instruction, have about 30 questions each and are written for the adapted curriculum. Testlet 503, Foundations and Professional Knowledge in Special Education, has about 40. It is all in the framework at gace.es.pearson.com, read October 15, 2026.
Timing
The real testlets allow 45, 45 and 60 minutes, which is 90 seconds for each question. The 50 questions here take 75 minutes at the same rate.
Where the answers come from
About half the questions cite a section of the federal rules at ecfr.gov, most of them the IDEA regulations. The rest name the Georgia Department of Education, ASHA's page on augmentative and alternative communication, a report on evidence-based practices, NIH pages or Wikipedia.
Four questions rest on Georgia Department of Education pages, three of them on the Georgia Alternate Assessment 2.0.
Questions and answers
Is there a GACE Special Education Adapted Curriculum study guide?
Yes. The GACE website publishes a study guide for Special Education Adapted Curriculum (P–12), test 731, with a sample item for each objective. This page is separate: 50 practice questions of our own on the same three testlets.
Is this a study guide for GACE Special Education Adapted Curriculum Test II?
It follows test 731 as the GACE site listed it on October 15, 2026: three testlets, 401, 402 and 503, taken in any combination. The site listed no Test I or Test II for this assessment that day.
How is the GACE Adapted Curriculum test different from General Curriculum?
They share testlet 503, Foundations and Professional Knowledge in Special Education. Adapted Curriculum (731) pairs it with testlets 401 and 402; General Curriculum (735) pairs it with testlets 407 and 408.
How many questions are on the GACE Adapted Curriculum test?
The assessment asks 100 selected-response questions in 2 hours 30 minutes of testing. Each session also has 15 minutes for a tutorial and a nondisclosure agreement.
What is a passing score on the GACE Adapted Curriculum test?
Passing takes all three testlets, the floor on each, and an assessment-level score of 220 or higher. Scores are reported on a scale of 100 to 300, so a number right here is not a verdict.
