How this list was compiled: Our own short texts and questions, written to the ETS description of the Language Form and Meaning section of the TOEFL Junior Standard test. Sections, item counts, scale scores and testing times: https://www.ets.org/toefl/junior/test-content.html (Language Form and Meaning: 42 items, 25 minutes, scale 200–300; whole test 126 items, 1 hour 55 minutes, 600–900), read 2026-10-09. What the section measures (grammar and vocabulary in context) and its question kind (choose the word or words that correctly complete a sentence inside a short text), scoring by the number of questions answered correctly: the TOEFL Junior Test Taker Handbook (https://www.ets.org/content/dam/ets-org/pdfs/toefl/toefl-junior-handbook.pdf), read 2026-10-09. Each grammar rule was read on 2026-10-09 in the page of the Purdue Online Writing Lab (owl.purdue.edu) that the question names, and each word meaning in the entry of the Cambridge Learner's Dictionary (dictionary.cambridge.org) that the question names, the same day. What the section asks

The ETS handbook for the TOEFL Junior tests, read October 9, 2026, says the section tests grammar and vocabulary in context: you choose the word or words that correctly complete a sentence. This bank holds 32 grammar and 12 vocabulary questions.

Count and time

ETS's test content page gives the section 42 questions in 25 minutes. Exam mode uses the same numbers.

After each answer

A grammar answer shows its rule, checked at the Purdue Online Writing Lab. A vocabulary answer shows the meaning, checked in the Cambridge Learner's Dictionary.

  • The ETS handbook says the score is the count of questions answered correctly, so try every question.
  • Read both sentences before you choose. The second one often shows which word fits the gap.

Questions and answers

Is this TOEFL Junior practice test the real exam?

No. The texts and questions were written for this site from ETS's description of the section. None repeats or rewords a real test question or an ETS sample question, and a result here is not a forecast of a score.

What is on the TOEFL Junior Standard test?

ETS lists three sections of 42 questions each: Listening Comprehension (40 minutes), Language Form and Meaning (25 minutes) and Reading Comprehension (50 minutes). This Junior TOEFL practice test covers the second one; it has no audio and no reading passages.

How is the TOEFL Junior scored?

ETS reports a scale score of 200 to 300 for each section and 600 to 900 in total. This page gives the number right only.

Can I take this TOEFL Junior practice test online for free?

Yes. It runs in the browser with no sign-up, and answers stay on this device. For TOEFL Junior test practice on paper or as a PDF, Print, after a round, lays the questions out, and one tick adds the answer key.
