What the Power User exam asks

Splunk's test blueprint, read on October 9, 2026, weights ten sections: transforming commands for visualizations 5%, correlating events 15%, and 10% each for filtering and formatting results, creating and managing fields, field aliases and calculated fields, tags and event types, macros, workflow actions, data models, and the Common Information Model add-on.

Which Splunk version, and what is left out

Every answer rests on a page of Splunk's public documentation for Splunk Enterprise 10.6 or of the CIM add-on manual. A default or a menu name can differ in another version. The sparkline options, the Pivot Editor's screens and data model acceleration are not asked.

  • The search command evaluates OR before AND. The eval and where commands evaluate AND before OR, so the same line can group two ways.
  • transaction adds duration and eventcount. When one unique ID marks each group, the Search Manual says stats usually performs better.
  • Field aliases are applied before calculated fields, lookups, event types and tags, so none of those four can be given an alias.
