Questions and answers

How many questions are on the RHIA exam?

150: 130 scored items and 20 pretest items that do not count, mixed through the exam. Candidates have three hours and thirty minutes, by AHIMA's RHIA page.

What is the passing score for the RHIA exam?

AHIMA's RHIA page gives it as 300. That is a score on AHIMA's own scale, not a count of questions, so a result here does not forecast it.

Is there a free RHIA practice exam?

Yes. This bank is free and needs no sign-up, and each answer comes with a short reason and the section of the public source it was read in.

Is this the AHIMA study guide for the RHIA exam?

No. AHIMA offers its own RHIA exam preparation with practice exams. This is a separate question bank, not a study guide, and no question in it was taken or reworded from AHIMA's exam or its preparation products.

Who can take the RHIA certification exam?

AHIMA lists graduates of a health information management program accredited by CAHIIM at the baccalaureate or master's level, among other routes. Read the eligibility requirements on AHIMA's RHIA page as part of your exam prep, before you apply.
