Media Specialist or School Librarian
The GACE list has one library assessment, School Librarian (728). Georgia's certificate rule 505-2-.143, effective October 15, 2025, names the field School Librarian and says people certified in Media Specialist are in-field as school librarians.
The three testlets
Professional Roles and Responsibilities (321) has about 30 questions, Student-Centered Practices, Resources, and School Library Environments (322) about 40, and Program Development and Management (323) about 30. This bank holds 12, 16 and 12. The timed test gives 60 minutes for the 40.
Where the answers come from
Half the answers quote the American Library Association and AASL, the Copyright Office, the Library of Congress, Creative Commons or federal pages; the other half name Wikipedia articles.
- The second testlet is the largest, about 40 of the 100 questions: instruction suited to students' development, an accessible library and the inquiry process.
Questions and answers
Is there a GACE study guide for media specialist?
Yes, under the name School Librarian. The GACE website has a study guide for test 728, set out by the same three testlets as these questions. None of them is taken or reworded from its sample questions.
How many questions are on the GACE School Librarian test?
100 selected-response questions in three testlets. The clocks total 2 hours 30 minutes, and each testing session adds 15 minutes for a tutorial and a nondisclosure agreement.
What score passes the GACE media specialist assessment?
The GACE site asks for an assessment-level score of 220 or higher and for the floor, a minimum score, on each testlet. This page gives a number right, never a pass or a fail.
