What test 312 covers

The framework, read October 15, 2026, gives Foundations of Gifted Education 30% of the score, Assessment and Program Planning 30%, and Curriculum and Instruction 40%, across ten competencies.

The practice questions

Four questions stand on each competency, so a weak one shows quickly. A timed run asks all 40 in 48 minutes, the pace of the real test.

What to read next

Each explanation names its source: a Wikipedia article on the theory, test or strategy in the question, or the federal law itself, 20 U.S.C. 7801 and 7294, for the definition of gifted and the Javits program.

  • Curriculum and Instruction is the largest domain, four of the ten competencies, so differentiation, grouping and thinking strategies earn the most study time.
  • The framework keeps returning to special populations: gifted students who have disabilities, who are underachieving or profoundly gifted, or who are culturally or linguistically diverse.

No. It is our own reading of the public framework for test 312, and all 40 questions were written here from named public sources. No real test item, official sample question or paid practice test was used.

Which NES test goes with a gifted endorsement?

NES Gifted Education. The Illinois Licensure Testing System lists test 312 under that name, and the NES page for a newer test, 324, links the passing scores of Oklahoma and Tennessee. Your state's licensing agency says which code it accepts.

How many questions are on NES Gifted Education 312?

The test page gives 150 multiple-choice questions and 3 hours of testing time, after a 15-minute tutorial and nondisclosure agreement. It shows computer-based testing at test centers only and lists no reference materials.

What score passes NES Gifted Education?

The test page prints a National Benchmark score of 220, a scaled score, and links Illinois for a state passing score. A count of right answers on this page cannot be converted to that scale.

Is NES Gifted Education 324 the same test as 312?

No. Test 324 follows a framework dated February 2025: 100 multiple-choice questions in 2 hours, in three domains weighted 25%, 50% and 25%. This guide follows 312; many topics overlap, but the weights and competency numbers differ.
