What Unit 2 covers

The College Board's course description, effective fall 2026 and read October 11, 2026, gives Unit 2 nine topics and no weights among them, so the spread is ours: demand (6 questions), supply (6), price elasticity of demand (6), price elasticity of supply (4), other elasticities (5), market equilibrium and surplus (8), disequilibrium and changes in equilibrium (8), government intervention (7) and international trade (5).

Worked answers and sources

Each calculation is worked from the numbers the question prints. Under the answer stands the essential knowledge statement or the Wikipedia article where the principle can be read. The description keeps the graphing of quotas out of the exam, so quotas are asked in words.

  • Ask first whether the good's own price changed. If it did, move along the curve. Anything else shifts the curve.
  • Elasticity divides percentage changes, never unit changes. Along a straight demand line the slope is constant and the elasticity is not.
  • When both curves shift, one of price and quantity is certain. The other depends on the sizes of the shifts.
